Celebrate with our annual Holiday Pops concert, a classic Christmas complete with a performance of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Sing a long with the songs you know and cherish. Don’t be a Scrooge and miss out on this family classic! Oh, and Santa will be there too!

Featuring the Billings Symphony Chorale, Soloist Bret Weston, and Narrator Dan Nickerson.

Bret Weston

Bret Weston is currently in his 24th year performing with the Billings Symphony Chorale. He was a soloist for 2016’s Symphony in the Park. He also performs with the Billings Studio Theater. For Holiday Pops, Bret will be performing Fantasia on Christmas Carols by Vaughn-Williams.

Fantasia on Christmas Carols

Fantasia on Christmas Carols  by Ralph Vaughn-Williams was composed in 1912 for a baritone voice. It was first performed at the Three Choirs Festival at Hereford Cathedral in Hereford England. Fantasia on Christmas Carols consists of the 3 English folk carols, The Truth Sent from Above, Come All you Worthy Gentlemen, and On Christmas Night, All Christians Sing.

Dan Nickerson

Dan Nickerson returns to the Billings Symphony stage as the narrator for Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. He has previously performed as Hector Berlioz in Symphonie Fantastic in the premier of the BSO&C’s Behind the Scenes. More recently, he was Mother Goose and Alexander T. Wolf in our latest Family Concert, Fractured Fairy Tales.

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol  was first published in December 1843, in London England. It is the most popular Dickens’ story ever wrote. By Christmas 1843, it sold over 6,000 copies. Two months later, no less than eight stage productions were in the works (charlesdickensinfo.comA Christmas Carol has never been out of print.
